The San Michele a Torri winery has been producing wines thru the centuries and takes its name from the medieval village in which it is located.
The winery is located in La Linea di San Michele (The Saint Michael Line), which is an imaginary mystical line that connects seven monasteries, seven ancient sanctuaries all consecrated to St. Michael the Archangel. They are all very distant from each other, but are extraordinarily in perfect alignment with each other, starting from Ireland to Palestine, passing through England, France, Italy and Greece. This “sacred line”, according to legend, was “produced” by the blow of the sword that the Saint inflicted on the devil to send him back to hell…
Thus, this is the reason we use St. Michael and his sword in our label.
