In the early 2000s, co-founders Andrea Maffei and Antonio Pepe decided to create, first a farm focused on Extra Virgin Olive Oil, then a winery, with the aim of revaluing land in Roccabascerana owned by Andrea’s family. But the spark that gave birth to the winery and Bellaria wines, comes from a beautiful story told to little Antonio, by his grandfather many years before. Grandfather Luigi, who dedicated his life to winemaking in Irpinia, in Montefalcione ( one of the only two towns in southern Italy to have two DOCG wines ), told his grandson Antonio, who complained about a trip he had to make by car with his family to Naples, that as a young man he would walk there with his donkey loaded with wine to sell it in the Neapolitan city. This tale, Antonio always carried in his heart, and at the right time he made it explode, just as the intense aromas of Bellaria wines explode.
